Canada’s First-Past-the-Post Electoral System Must Go.
It represents neither our voices nor values, and tips the scales toward the status-quo parties, who win 100% of the power with less than 40% of the votes.
It enables politicians to play undemocratic games to curry favour, get re-elected and control how MPs vote in the House of Commons, often with support from fewer than half the voters in their ridings.
It’s time we take back our democracy. We expect a voting system that makes Parliament reflect our voices. Our votes should represent our top priorities, our values and a national vision for our future.
We demand proportional representation because Canadians deserve to make every vote count. One that:
